TREE CLIMBING? (I did that as a child !)

Recreational tree climbing is a whole new way of tree climbing. Sometimes known as technical tree climbing, it involves using a rope and harness, climbers are tied in and on a rope at all times. Unlike free climbing, which most of us did as children, this system allows us to climb bigger trees very safely. Lots of children don’t get to climb trees anymore, so now adults and children can climb together and have fun in a safe way.
Recreational tree climbing is still a young sport in the UK, it has taken off in places like the USA and Japan.
The Mighty Oak Tree Climbing Co. is the first organization in Cornwall to offer recreational tree climbing to the general public. There are only a handful of other organizations in the UK offering tree climbing.

From 4 years old to ? all ages, all walks of life can climb trees with us, from individuals to birthday parties to corporate events to family bonding days, there’s all sorts of ways we can offer you a tree climbing experience.

WHAT WE OFFER

The mighty oak tree climbing company offers tree climbing to all ages, adults and children enjoy it just as much as each other. We offer tree climbing individually or to small groups (1-24)such as birthday parties, families, stag/hen do’s or large groups (25-50) such as corporate events, camps, schools and festivals. We will also be doing events around Cornwall and the rest of the UK. We also offer tree camping in tree hammocks for a special experience not only climbing the tree but sleeping in it too. See prices and tree camping links for further info. We have various sites where we can climb around Cornwall or if you have a suitable tree we can come to you.

HOW SAFE IS IT?

We use the safest rope and harness tree climbing system currently known in the tree climbing world. The system is a modification from the traditional arborist way of climbing, it was developed in the USA by Tree Climbers International (TCI). Peter Jenkins founded TCI and indeed recreational tree climbing in 1983. TCI is now regarded all over the world as the standard bearer of recreational tree climbing. Since TCI’s founding and with more than 50 000 climbs worldwide, no TCI supervised recreational tree climber has ever been seriously injured.
Our main instructor Alan is a TCI certified facilitator, after having been to Georgia, USA to Genevieve Summer’s tree climbing school ‘Dancing With Trees’, which is affiliated to TCI, where he was professionally trained.
The Mighty Oak Tree Climbing Co. follows TCI’s standards and protocols for climbing, by using proper techniques and equipment and by following safety procedures, the risk involved in being off the ground is minimized.
We are fully insured for the activities we undertake.
